Budding hynotherapists get a taste of real live sessions

It was great to work with our hypnotherapy course students at the weekend. It’s satisfying to see progression and because they’ll soon be treating real clients in supervised groups then I think the language patterns exercise where the students spontaneously used their hypnotic language whilst being observed was a really gentle way of getting them used to working in front of others.  Hypnotic communication is such an important part of any psychotherapeutic‘tool kit’ and, because they also learnt the rewind technique at the weekend to quickly lift traumas and phobias it’s clear that just being able to ‘do’ this amazing technique isn’t always enough without the ability to use words like a surgeon uses a….wotdyacallit, thingamajig ahh oh yes scalpel. Being able to calm others down (and of course your self) is an essential part of being a great therapist and the anxiety and panic attacks section covered what happens during high anxiety and what do about it. I’m looking forward to seeing our students work with the public-real people with real issues and am loving every minute of this course.

Anyway I’m off out for a run now because if I don’t do it now then I know myself well enough to know I’ll come up with some excuse

Bye for now

Mark
