Harmful effects of bullying on children

This Bullying bad for children’s health article seems to show that bullied children are at risk of developing anxiety disorders and depression-no surprises there then! It does suggest that some children’s environments may predispose them to suffering psychological problems which just happen to coincide with them being bullied but in my experience prolonged bullying can have major psychological impacts on victims’ mental and physical health.

A bully will instinctively block or subvert the victims’ basic emotional needs need for a sense of security, status-feelings of competence, connection to others and so forth. And if this happens then of course the mental health of the bully victim will suffer in the same way that a flower blocked from receiving water will suffer.
