One to one chats with hypnotherapy diploma students

Hi there

Every June Mark and I have a chat to the individual hypnotherapy diploma students, by then they have completed two of the observed client sessions, we have had a natter to their mentor and are able to give some feedback to how they are doing. We started doing this about 3 years ago and the students reported that they get lots from it; so we decided to do another earlier in the year. Not for us to give feedback but to just catch up with how the students were finding the course after the first couple of months.

Mark and I are just finishing that round of chats, it has been so good have this one to one time with the students, the feedback they gave me on us unkers………was so heartwarming and rewarding. Sometimes when busy I just forget how powerful the learning experience with us is,so it was great to take time out and hear how our students are finding the hypnotherapy course after the first two months.

There were several things that to light with this group, firstly what an enthusiastic bunch!!! So loving the course….Many were beginning to become comfortable with the solution focused therapy, and some said although they had got a good grasp of the hypnotic language they felt a bit self conscious when they were doing the hypnosis with their friends. When they remembered that was the case for all things when you start to learn something new, they saw the funny side. One guy said it is like learning a new language, the more that you use it the easier it gets and he had been going over this with his mentor. Nothing to do with anxiety, putting into practise a new skill can just can feel a bit strange at first.

Remember the first time that you learnt to swim? Thanks for arm bands eh? Now you don’t even think about what has to move when and where.

Roger and Joe are going to be building and consolidating the students hypnotic language abilities next weekend, they also have a fun group exercise for us to all do too. (and no peas or balloons please Roj!! ) yes we did teach the students a fundamental principle with peas and ballons…..and boy did they remember it, just as they will easily learn the rewind technique next weekend through using pipe cleaner dolls……..

Got to go one more student to call…

Jill
