Smoking expose on Uncommon Knowledge

If you subscribe to our newsletter Clear Thinking, you’ll already have seen the new article on how to quit smoking. In fact, it’s much more than that, it’s a laying bare of the psychology of smoking by Mark Tyrrell, and I think it makes very interesting reading. If you’re a smoker it should give you more control, if you’re a therapist it will definitely improve your success rate with clients. And if you’re neither… well let us know what you think.

I’m in the “neither” group, and agree that the article is thought-provoking reading. Like all the Uncommon Knowledge I’ve read thus far, it’s plain-spoken, informative, and even a bit entertaining. :) Anyone who knows a smoker (and who doesn’t?) can benefit, by gaining insight into what drives their friend/family member’s habit. I especially like the parallel drawn between rebellious smokers and infatuated teenage girls and Mark’s retorts to the common beliefs held by smokers.

As an aside, a topic about smoking popped up on the message board where I’m an Administrator just after this article was published, and I couldn’t resist posting a link to it. Keep up the excellent work!
